I come from a line of agitators, disrupters, heroes and the odd rogue.

Those before me

We are formed by more than our own experiences, but also those who have gone before us.

My father’s aunt, Mabel Henrietta Capper was one of the original English Suffragettes, who fought for women to get the vote. She was imprisoned six times for this belief and was one of the first women to hunger strike while in prison.

My Uncle, Stan Brock, was a cowboy in the South American jungle, TV presenter, pilot and later dedicated his life to a medical and disaster relief charity, RAM, which he founded. In 2018 he won the International Lions Humanitarian of the year award, previous recipients had been Mother Teresa and President Jimmy Carter.

My maternal grandfather was a blacksmith, a WWI soldier who fought in France and Belgium and came back to serve returned veterans and their families in his spare time, doing this for 50 years.

My own father spent his entire working life in the Pacific Islands in Aid and Development, training locals to do his job. In the early 1960’s he encountered racism from one of his bosses who told him to “stop fraternising with the locals”. My dad promptly ignored this advice and kept breaking bread with his indigenous colleagues. By the time he left he was held in high regard by his indigenous colleagues who called him a “white Melanesian.”

All this is to say, that we are formed by more than our own experiences, but also those who have gone before us. One of my core values instilled into me from those who have gone before is the importance of people and the place of service.

About me

I was raised in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, live in New Zealand and work internationally.

I bring 20+ years of experience in leadership in helping people and organisations flourish.

I have experience as a former CEO, Board Member and business owner as well as a number of years in social services and the not for profit sector. I have had hands-on experience in startups, turnarounds, restructures, failures and start overs.

My overriding passion is to see people and organisations flourish. A big emphasis is on helping leaders live out of their authentic best selves and to create cultures that are human-centric in nature and strategic in focus.

I love; reading, travel, sport, history, business, single malt scotch, mates, family and my British Bulldog “Boss”. I am learning to surf again after 20 years and endure running. I am currently writing a book on leadership fables.
